About RiskHUB

RiskHUB – Democratizing disaster risk knowledge

RiskHUB is a platform developed by the Inter-American Development Bank for Latin America and the Caribbean that connects users with innovative tools for assessing hazards, exposure, vulnerability and impacts, facilitating disaster risk analysis and cost-benefit analysis. Its main objective is to provide an integrated and user-friendly system to facilitate access to resources for analyzing disaster risk, strengthen national capacities in risk modeling and application of risk metrics, contribute to regional cooperation and innovation, and support decision-making through access to validated data and tools.

The platform is aimed at both natural hazard and risk modelers and risk information users, including decision-makers in public institutions, fiscal planning officials, infrastructure investment and social protection systems. Thus, RiskHUB responds to the needs of those who require technical information and those seeking applicable results for public management.

RiskHUB integrates probabilistic risk analysis approaches and damage and loss assessments, providing tools and information that enable estimating the potential impact of disasters and comparing alternatives for their management. Among its main features are:

  • Data repositories on hazards, exposure and vulnerability.

  • Catalog of tools for catastrophic risk estimation for multiple hazards (earthquakes, floods, droughts, fires, etc.).

  • Risk atlas with interactive maps and downloadable metrics.

  • Sectoral tools for resilient infrastructure planning and adaptive social protection and macroeconomic analysis.

  • Training materials, online courses and communities of practice to strengthen technical capacities and strengthen regional collaboration.

Selection Process

The models and tools integrated into RiskHUB have been selected through a rigorous process, based on criteria such as free and open access, open source, active technical support, quantitative approach and use of high-quality data. Before developing the platform, an exhaustive evaluation of the solutions available in the market was carried out, ensuring that the chosen options responded to the needs of users and international standards for disaster risk management.

The platform aims to be the reference point for disaster risk management in Latin America and the Caribbean, promoting collaboration, knowledge sharing, innovation and informed decision-making.

RiskHUB places risk knowledge at the center of public action, because anticipating risk to manage it is building a more resilient future for the region.

RiskHUB is a dynamic platform in constant evolution, where new content and tools are incorporated as they become available, thus responding to the changing needs of its users. The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) is committed to the development and continuous improvement of RiskHUB, and invites the community to visit it regularly to discover the latest updates and register in the community.
